Ishikawa

Kanazawa

Traditional Gasshou houses - World Heritage site. Quite modern but very pretty in winter. Good if you're into "Little Kyoto"-esque places.

Noto-Hanto (Peninsula)

Camping is a good option, though it can get cold in winter so bring a good tent and sleeping bag. If you don't have a sleeping bag that's suitable for winter, then don't camp. There are some good cycling tracks around the island. The prettiest sights are along the costline. Good maps are available at the Kanazawa train station tourist office. Also check out Notojima, Monzen, Wajima and Nanao (the UFO capital of the world).
